Side-by-side

How the two platforms compare.

Attendance, billing, parent communication, COPPA posture, and pricing - the areas directors ask about most. Procare claims below are drawn from their public marketing site and GetApp reviews.

Procare details reflect publicly available information from procaresoftware.com (verified April 2025) and GetApp aggregate reviews. Where a capability is not publicly documented by Procare, we note it as "not publicly confirmed" rather than guess.

Pricing transparency

One of these numbers is on a public page. One isn't.

Buyers shouldn't need a sales call to model their monthly bill. We publish ours. Procare's main product pricing is not publicly listed - interested centers are directed to request a quote.

DayLynx

$100/month base, $7 per child after 5

Published on /pricing. Every feature included at one flat price. A 25-child center pays $240/month - you can model your bill before you talk to us.
  • Per-seat pricing on a public page
  • 30-day free trial, no credit card
  • No setup fees or add-on modules

Procare

Pricing not publicly listed

Procare's pricing page directs interested centers to request a quote rather than publishing per-seat prices for their main product lines. Reviewers on GetApp report that bundled add-ons and periodic price increases are a common source of frustration, but we won't cite specific numbers we can't verify from an official source.
  • Quote-on-request pricing model
  • Bundled modules commonly cited by reviewers
  • Directors without a sales call cannot self-serve an estimate

Where DayLynx is different

Five reasons directors pick DayLynx.

These are shipped or publicly committed features, not marketing promises. Anything in beta or planned is labeled as such.

Transparent, published pricing

DayLynx lists pricing on /pricing: $100/month for your first 5 children, $7/child after. Directors can model their exact monthly bill before a single sales call. Procare's main product pricing is not publicly listed — centers are directed to request a quote.

COPPA-first posture

Photo and media consent is tracked per child. No public feeds, no ad networks, no data harvesting. DayLynx states its COPPA commitment publicly on /coppa. Procare's compliance page (verified April 2025) lists SOC 2 Type 2 and PCI Level 1 certifications but does not publicly claim COPPA compliance.

Every feature for every customer

Attendance, messaging, photos, compliance, reports, and parent portal are all included at one flat price — no modules to purchase separately. Procare reviewers on GetApp commonly cite bundled add-ons and unwanted modules as a source of frustration.

Payroll export and substitute coverage stay included

DayLynx includes payroll-ready staff hours export and substitute pool coverage in the core staff module, so directors can pull clock totals and fill ratio gaps without paying extra. Procare treats those payroll and staffing workflows as paid add-ons.

Born-in-the-cloud platform

DayLynx is cloud-native — nothing to install, nothing to patch. Procare maintains three active platforms including a Desktop (installed) product alongside their Online offering, meaning some centers are running an on-premise product.

Focused UI for directors and teachers

Built around the daily flow of a small-to-mid center: check-in, ratios, messages, and reports are a tap or two away. Procare reviewers on GetApp note complex and rigid accounting features and cumbersome messaging tools as recurring friction points.

Modern SSO signup — no password needed

Directors and staff sign up and sign in with one click using their existing Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 account — no separate DayLynx password is ever created. For centers without Google or Microsoft, email magic-link is available as a fallback. Faster onboarding, one less credential to manage.

Honest comparison

Where Procare is stronger today.

We want you to make a fair decision, not a rushed one. Here is where a larger, more established platform has real advantages - we would rather say so than pretend otherwise.

State subsidy & agency payment management

Procare explicitly supports subsidy payment tracking from state agencies (DHS, DFACS, DCFS, Head Start) and USDA CACFP meal reimbursement claims — critical for centers dependent on government funding. DayLynx now supports CACFP meal program setup, but it does not currently ship subsidy management or reimbursement claims, and centers relying on these workflows should evaluate Procare carefully.

Enterprise scale and multi-site reporting

Over 40,000 centers use Procare, including 70%+ of North America's largest for-profit operators (per procaresoftware.com). Consolidated cross-location reporting, corporate dashboards, and audit trails at enterprise scale are proven capabilities a newer platform has not yet matched.

30+ years and a tenured support organization

Founded in 1992, Procare has decades of customer support depth, peer references across thousands of centers, and a well-documented track record. If your team wants long-running case studies or peer references before switching, Procare's operating history is a genuine advantage.

Questions directors ask

Switching from Procare?

The practical questions we hear most when a center is evaluating a Procare alternative.

For the core daily workflows — attendance, family messaging, photos, compliance reporting, and tuition billing — yes. DayLynx covers the same jobs at a transparent per-seat price. Where Procare is genuinely stronger today is state subsidy management and enterprise-scale multi-site reporting. If your center depends heavily on those, we say so honestly on this page.
